Bravo Eddie. Excellent prose and a gripping tale as always. With your Rocky Mountain Oysters post, this one completes your culinary tour of the bovine nether regions.

Eddie Lin

elmo,

thanks. yes, rocky mountain oysters. you reached deep into the archives for that one. bull balls was one of my first few posts. and to imagine i was concerned back then if i would be able to find anything else to top rocky mountain oysters. i was younger and naiver. i look back fondly.

Gourmetish

Is it inappropriate for me to say that I would like to share a bowl of penis with you? :) Actually, I probably would prefer the escargot and I would definitely skip the chicken egg dish but it was a lot of fun to read about!

Eddie Lin

gourmetish,

i will never consider it inappopriate for a cute girl to want to share a bowl of penis with me. the world would be a better place if more people shared bowls of anything with each other.

hey, i was in your neck of the woods last weekend at comic-con. got my geek on!

Jennie Kaae Ferrara

Great post Eddie!

Beautifully written food saga, once again. Not only that, but the pictures are gorgeous. Which camera are you using? Escargot has never looked as enticing, ever!
I'm afraid I have failed as a deep end diner. Just having been i Hong Kong, the weirdest thing I can say I ate was a bit of iffy dim sum from a street vendor. I didn't even try a mooncake. We will go back one day, and I will try duck tongue soup!

Juliet

mmm...I want me some cock in my mouth. Yum! LOL
I do just love Vietnamese food, though! I begged my family to take me out for it on my birthday last week. Unfortunately, I am afraid I will have to return to California to try the dishes you had. And I will definately have to pick up that cookbook@

Eddie Lin

jennie,

thanks for ploughing through my new post. it's a long one. the camera i'm using now is the awesomely tiny and versatile casio exilim ex-z750. also, the pix look better because they've been "desaturated" via photoshop. we're going for a different look. however some of the things in the background have been overly saturated to give the overall photo an interesting feel. feel me?

i am beyond disappointed in you, girl! you went all the way to hong kong and didn't even have cobra or sex organs (*ahem* of a dead, cooked animal). there is so much great, awesome, fantastic, and very delicious food there. WHY!! GAAAWWWDD!!!

juliet,

yes, that is the spirit, woman!! now i want all the ladies in da deep end dining house to follow juliet's lead and go get that cock in y'alls mouths. yeah, babeee!!

and do pick up the little saigon cookbook. it's a treasure. also visit little saigon next time you're in the neighborhood. thanks, sweety!

JenM (a sobriquet)

I couldn't resist leaving a comment for a travelling host on one of my favorie shows. It's so, so surreal to be able to do that!

BoLA

Hey Eddie! I LOL when I read your wife mentioning the uncanny likeness to Rachael Ray - that would have been SO ME saying that too! Also... you mean that there's more to deliciously crunchy egg rolls, shrimp fried rice and a fortune cookie? ;)

sixteenbit

i think i'm destined to eat bull penis and balut eggs if i ever get on fear factor. i'd much rather have drunken shrimp, i assure you.

Gourmetish

Eddie, you were in San Diego and didn't let me know! Argh! I was even downtown that weekend to see another friend who was also getting his geek on. :) Next time you're in my area let me know!

naomi

Aw, man, we have been eating pho every day this summer, since it's really one of the few things you want to eat in the summer heat, but of course no chance of finding anything freaky in a bowl of it here in Berlin -sigh- you Californians have it so good...

Eddie Lin

jenm,

i will let megan know. she'll be pleased.

bola,

i would've made the rachael ray comment if i had just one more gin & tonic.

sixteenbit,

yes, if you ever get to choose, always pick drunken shrimp over bull penis and balut. although your chances of getting an egg laying parasite is much greater with the drunken shrimp. it's a culinary crap shoot!

gourmetish,

sorry! next year look for the stormtrooper with the bull penis in his hands instead of a blaster. that'll be me!

naomi,

"Ich bin ein Berliner." Yeah, you're right. You may have world class museums, symphonies, operas and other art & cultural offerings BUT you don't have bull penis pho. Suck that! But I'm very happy that you're aiming high. One day you can come to California and experience cock & pho and your life will be complete. Que over-the-top Wagner music!

Spyware Remover

No outlaws there. Just a bunch of guys who spend too much time tasting their own food.
